Ikigai, the Japanese concept of finding purpose and joy in life, is central to my art. My Ikigai is creating music that not only soothes but also instills a sense of purpose and peace in the listener.
It’s also present in hobbies and my quiet moments of reflection. Be it cooking traditional Japanese dishes, tending to my small garden, or even just enjoying a cup of green tea on my porch. I believe in cherishing the simple pleasures of life.
'Ma', the principle of space, shapes both my music and life, embracing moments of stillness and mindful observation in everyday routines.
In my compositions, I embrace the principle of 'Ma' – valuing the space between notes as much as the notes themselves. In a world that constantly urges us to do more, 'Ma' is an invitation to a meditative journey, a pause from the relentless pace of modern life.
I stumbled upon Kintsugi a few years back, and it’s been a guiding principle in my life since. It taught me to embrace my imperfections and to find beauty in the broken parts of myself. I apply this philosophy in my life by accepting my past and learning from my failures.
In my music, this translates to embracing the unexpected and finding harmony in discord. This translates to embracing raw, unpolished sounds that add character to the melodies.
